Peter came to the Bar in 2004 after a successful business career, including more than a decade in which he established, expanded and sold a thriving retail business. He now has over 14 years at the Bar with expertise in both Commercial and Civil Litigation; as well as in Criminal matters.
Peter's Criminal defence work includes appearances before the Magistrates' Courts and the Crown Courts in a number of Fraud matters, particularly business fraud, as well as cases involving drug cultivation, importation, possession with intent to supply and basic possession; as well as sexual assaults, rape and robbery. Apart from his defence work, Peter also has experience appearing as Prosecution Counsel, so views things from a twin perspective.
His other areas of expertise include Employment Law, where he has successfully represented both Respondent and Claimant clients before the Employment Tribunal in matters ranging from unfair dismissals through to more specialist type subjects such as discrimination cases pertaining to Race, Sex, Disability and Age. Peter is regularly instructed in complex discrimination matters and has represented both single Claimants and groups of Claimants seeking damages under all heads of claim, Unfair or Constructively unfair dismissal, as well as in claims for unlawful deductions from wages. On the Respondents side, Peter regularly represents Local Authorities and Government Agencies; as well as scores of commercial clients before Tribunals across the country from Bristol to London and through the spine of the country from Southampton through Birmingham and Nottingham to Manchester and Newcastle.
Peter's Housing practice includes representing clients in Possession hearings or matters relating to Assured Tenancies.
Peter is a member of the Public Access scheme.
